“Phantom Liberty”: 5 Significant Enhancements Coming to Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has released a new gameplay trailer showcasing the upcoming changes and features for their open-world action game, Cyberpunk 2077, including the expansion called Phantom Liberty. The game will undergo a major overhaul, completely transforming the RPG experience with a range of new content.

One of the exciting additions is the Dogtown district, a new area in the futuristic game world. Additionally, Cyberpunk 2077 will receive a substantial update that not only enhances the game but is also free for players. This update aims to address the core issues of the game and fulfill the promises made when it was first revealed in 2018.

The journey of Cyberpunk 2077 has been challenging, with delays and a problematic release in December 2020. The game faced criticism and even removal from the PlayStation Store. However, CD Projekt Red has been working diligently to improve the game, leading to its eventual restoration in June 2021.

Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty are highly anticipated by players as they bring significant changes to Cyberpunk 2077. The update will introduce new missions, clothing items, weapons, cyberware, and gameplay areas. CD Projekt Red describes it as a “major overhaul of the gameplay experience,” and the recent gameplay footage supports this claim.

Here are the five key features that CD Projekt Red is introducing with Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty:

  1. Vehicle Combat: Players will now be able to engage in vehicle-to-vehicle combat, utilizing mounted weapons and quick hacks to attack enemy vehicles while driving.
  2. NCPD Update: The Night City Police Department will become more aggressive in pursuing the player character, responding realistically to their actions by setting up roadblocks and attempting to ram them off the road.
  3. Redesigned Cyberware and Perks: Cyberware and perks will receive a revamp, with new designs and additional perks in the skill tree for each attribute. The negative consequences of excessive cyberware, known as cyber-psychosis, will also be addressed.
  4. Relic Skill Tree and Abilities: The skill tree will feature a “relic section” related to Johnny Silverhand’s engram embedded in the player character’s skull, granting access to unique abilities.
  5. Combat AI Overhaul: Combat in Cyberpunk 2077 will see improvements with upgraded enemy AI, featuring more dynamic attacks and brutal melee combat moves. Players will have the ability to deflect bullets with swords and even throw enemies at one another.

Update 2.0, including the redesigned skill trees, enhanced police system, and vehicle combat, will be available as a free update for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC players.
